I launched the online payments on the eshop-rychle platform today - even non-IT people can do it. I made the first test payment from my account and everything went fine. Communication with Comgate was perfect and helpful.
Frequently asked questions
The cost of usually consists of the following fees: 1) a monthly rental fee, 2) a transaction fee.
The monthly rental fee usually ranges from 180 to 500 CZK. Some providers offer a device rent-free if the monthly volume of transactions exceeds a certain limit, for example 50,000 CZK.
The transaction fee usually makes up a significant part of the costs associated with the operation of the payment terminal, it typically consists of two parts – one set as a certain percentage of the transaction amount, the other an absolute amount regardless of the amount of the payment.
For card payments, the percentage and fixed part of the transaction cost vary significantly, depending on the type of card used. The lowest fees are set for cards issued to consumers in the EU. They are significantly higher for cards issued to businesses and companies. The highest fee rates apply to cards issued outside the EU, especially business and corporate cards.
When choosing a payment terminal, we recommend focusing on several parameters: 1) assess whether you need a portable payment terminal or whether a stationary model would suit your needs better, 2) the price, i.e. the cost of monthly rental and the amount of transaction fees, 3) the possibility to export transaction data to accounting easily.
Take into consideration the way the provider communicates. The one who presents the price of the services transparently (a full price list, contract documentation on their website, etc.), is more trustworthy than the one who only provides such information on request.
Providers also differ in terms of contractual obligations: some require a fixed-term contract (even for several years), while others allow the contract to be cancelled at any time without penalty or fees.
Customer support is also important, preferably in the form of an online self-service portal as well as email and phone support in the local language.
A payment using Google Pay is only possible with a compatible device (e.g. a mobile phone or a smart watch). Apple Pay can only be activated on compatible Apple devices.
NFC must be enabled on the device at the time of payment.
The payment itself takes place by 1) unlocking the device, 2) placing the device to the proximity of the payment terminal, 3) after paying, a confirmation symbol appears on the screen.
If the device prompts the customer to input a PIN or some other way of confirmation, the on-screen instructions are to be followed.
You can accept meal cards, e.g. Ticket Restaurant (Edenred), Chèque Déjeuner (Up Czech Republic), Naše stravenka (Lidl), Benefit Plus, GastroCard (Sodexo) or Lemon Pay. A separate contract between the merchant and the respective meal card providers is necessary.
With some meal cards, the fee is deducted from the payment by the payment terminal provider, with others the merchant receives a bill directly from the meal card operator.
